On 15 August, Anchor Vans acquired the 2 acre site adjacent to their existing Padworth site, previously owned by The Caravan Company. Work on the new site is anticipated to begin later this year and the land will be a welcome addition to the busy A4 business which is running at full capacity.

Taking the site up to 5 acres, the new space will provide a permanent location for the valeting department, an area for transporters to unload away from the busy main road and more room for stock. Not only will this improve working processes it will also have a favourable impact on local traffic and the community as there will be less movement of vehicles between the three sites and decreased traffic disruption along the A4.

Now approaching its fourth decade in the business, the Berkshire-based company runs sites at three separate locations. Anchor sells all makes and models of commercial vehicles, and alongside their impressive service centre offers a full spectrum service to customers up and down the country. Behind Anchor Vans’ success lies a 60-strong team who work hard to deliver a remarkable average of 50 vehicles per week.

Speaking about the expansion, Simon Joyce, MD of Anchor Vans said: “We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our main site and we are excited about the improvements it will bring to our business, our employee’s working lives and the local community. Our family-run business has been operating in the local area for over 30 years, and we look forward to continuing our growth which will open up further job opportunities within our area.”

This announcement swiftly follows planning approval for renovations to the company’s third site along the A4 in Midgham, where the business will be making changes including the installation of a new glass-fronted showroom and additional MOT bay. This will improve the appearance of the current building and reduce the need for vehicles to be transported between sites.

The continual development and improvement to sites and systems is what makes Anchor Vans stand out from the crowd. It is their long-held belief in bringing the best practices from the prestige car sector into the commercial vehicle sphere and in doing so, they provide a service and customer experience that far exceeds industry standards and provides an excellent model for business in Berkshire.

The company is listed by the Motor Trader Top 50 in its Top 50 independent UK Motor Dealers.
